Into a Black Hole

Once I started finding new music, I found one thing after another. Did manage to unglue myself from my laptop for enough time to sleep. Even as I feel asleep, though, I thought of more bands to search. My playlist for tomorrow's NYE trip to San Francisco is going to be pretty stellar. Here are a few more artists I found.

Artist: Civil Twilight.
And now we journey to South Africa. I think this band now lives in Tennessee, or LA, or something, but they're originally from South Africa, home of the indescribable accent. While watching Filmography 2010, I heard a song that sounded too familiar, but I couldn't place it. To save you the trouble, you'll recognize Letters from the Sky from the Big Love Season 5 promo on HBO. Civil Twilight's few singles have been widely used in promos and tv shows. I find them kind of Muse-ish.

Artist: Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
From LA, lead singer Alexander Ebert has already gone solo with at least one song (Truth). I'm not sure if the Magnetic Zeros still exist, but I hope so, because I'd love to see them live. It's pretty much a guarantee that you will have heard one of the three following songs before- in a commercial, in a dream or something.

Artist: Anya Marina
San Diego based. Her music is vampire friendly. "Satellite Heart" was used in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" soundtrack. "All The Same To Me" was used in "The Vampire Diaries". Another one of her songs was featured in "Grey's Anatomy", which I think counts as another vampire show.

Artist: Spoon
From Austin, Texas. Try not to tap your foot when you listen to this. Infinite Pet was featured in (500) Days of Summer. I found the film grating, but mostly because everyone had spoken so obsessively over it. I was doomed; I'd expected too much. Maybe if I watch it again, I'll like it and catch more LA references. If I liked Valentine's Day for the LA references, anything is possible.
